Did you know that dental cleanings are one of the most important things you can do for your oral health? They are so important that we recommend having them at least twice a year. At Gunnerson Dental, our team of professionals in Payson, Utah, is here to educate you on the advantages of routine cleanings of the teeth and gums and how vital they are to maintain oral health and wellness for life!
Cleanings remove plaque and bacteria from your teeth and gums, which can help prevent gum disease and other oral health problems. That is the primary purpose of these treatments. While patients who brush and floss after every meal may have cleaner teeth, there are areas that might be troublesome or difficult for patients to reach. Our team can ensure thorough cleaning of all the tooth surfaces when patients visit our facility. While our dental hygienist cleans and polishes the teeth, they can also keep an eye out for any areas of concern that might need further examination from Dr. Cheyn Gunnerson.
Most patients will benefit from two cleanings a year or once every six months. We recommend that our patients schedule their next cleaning before they leave the office to ensure it is on the calendar and isn’t forgotten. Patients who have certain conditions, such as periodontal disease, may need to visit more often for cleanings and treatments until their infection is under control. Cleaning the teeth may be incorporated with other services such as scaling and root planing or antibiotic treatments. If patients require further assistance to keep their teeth clean, Dr. Cheyn Gunnerson might prescribe special toothpaste or mouthwashes to help!
