Some great tools and techniques fall under restorative dentistry, but few are as versatile as a dental crown. At Gunnerson Dental, K. Cheyn Gunnerson, DMD, routinely uses crowns to protect, support, and cover damaged teeth. The practice offers same-day crowns to the benefit of their patients in Payson, Utah. A dental crown is a cap that the dentist places over your tooth to protect or strengthen it. At Gunnerson Dental, the team uses ceramic for their crowns. The ceramic material matches the natural color of your teeth, while also providing strength and stain resistance
A crown is an incredibly versatile tool that helps the team at Gunnerson Dental accomplish several objectives, including:
With the ceramic material, a crown performs its role exceptionally well in both form and function.
Gunnerson Dental provides same-day crowns with CEREC® technology, which saves you considerable time and hassle. Traditionally, getting a crown took several visits to the dentist to have the impressions made, prep your teeth, and then wait for an outside lab to complete your custom crown.
Thanks to the in-house capabilities at Gunnerson Dental, all of this can be done in about two hours. Once your dental expert cleans and preps your tooth, they use advanced imaging to create a digital impression, which they send through the CEREC CAD/CAM software and on to the milling unit.
Once the milling unit completes your custom crown, your dentist places it over your tooth or implant and bonds it into place. They also ensure that the crown fits in seamlessly with your surrounding teeth and that it supports your bite properly.
Gunnerson Dental also warranties its crowns, which means that if you have any issues, the team works with you to quickly rectify them.
To get the most out of your crown, you should take care of it as you would your natural teeth, with daily brushing, flossing, and rinsing. While the ceramic material that Gunnerson Dental uses is durable, you should still be mindful of not placing too much stress on the crown by avoiding:
If you protect your crown, it can last 10-20 years, and sometimes longer. And when your crown needs to be replaced, you can return to Gunnerson Dental for another same-day crown.
